Error: XX is not in the account list, account not found

You may receive the following error when receiving a customer payment, or printing a check/paycheck, or saving any other type of transaction:

XX is not in the account list, account not found (XX represents the account name referenced in the error message).

 

The account referenced in the error is damaged.

How to fix it

Important: Ensure that your QuickBooks Desktop is up to date before you follow the steps shown below.

Solution 1: Troubleshoot data damage

Use the standard data damage troubleshooting to fix this issue manually. If the issue persist, please proceed to solution 2.


Solution 2: Use ADR copy

If the file is damaged, restore the Auto Data Recovery (ADR) copy of your QuickBooks Desktop file.
 

If the issue persist, please contact Intuit tech support for possible escalation of your QuickBooks file to Data Recovery Team. Fees may apply.
