Adobe Reader could not open XXX.pdf because it is not a supported file type or damaged

When attempting to save a Quickbooks Statement Writer Report as PDF and choosing Open PDF upon Save, Adobe Reader could not open {FILENAME.EN_US} because it is either not a supported file type or because file had been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded.)

How to fix it

Repair QuickBooks

  1. On your keyboard, press Windows logo+R. The Run dialog box opens.
  2. Enter Control Panel then click OK.
  3. In the Control Panel, double-click on Program and Features
  4. In Program and Features, select QuickBooks
  5. Once QuickBooks is selected, click Uninstall/Change > Repair > Next > Repair > Next
  6. If notified to Restart the Computer, restart before reopening QuickBooks
  7. If the issue still persist, please perform clean installation of QuickBooks.
