No Sound When Recording a Transaction in QuickBooks Desktop

You may not hear a beep when recording transactions if you don't have the right hardware or your QuickBooks Desktop preferences is not set up correctly.

How to fix it

To hear the beep when recording a transaction, you must have at least one of the following:

  • An internal speaker (this is a single internal speaker used for system sounds)
  • External speaker (including built in speakers in laptops)
  • Headphones plugged into a working sound port

 

Quick Tip
You can also verify the volume of your speaker and sound card.

 

Set the QuickBooks Desktop preference:

  1. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences and select General.
  2. Under My Preferences, select Beep when recording transaction.
  3. Click OK to close the Preferences window.
