No Company Open Screen only displays one company file

When opening QuickBooks, the “No Company Open Screen” or “Open Previous Company” list does not display the names of previously opened company files, only the last file opened.

Solution Description
To change the number company files that display in the list, change the Set number of previous companies option:
  1. You must be logged in as the QuickBooks Administrator to change this option.
  2. Select the File menu and select Open Previous Company >Set number of previous companies.
  3. Enter the number of company files you want to display in the list.
  4. Click OK.

If changing the settings does not resolve the issue and you are using Windows Vista, you may need to turn the User Account Control setting off:

To turn UAC on or off in Windows Vista, please follow these steps:
  1. Click the Windows Logo button, and then click Control Panel.
  2. 2. Unless already selected, click Classic View in the left side of the Control Panel window.
  3. 3. Double-click User Accounts.
  4. 4. Select your user account and click Turn User Account Control on or off.
  5. 5. Select or clear the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer checkbox and then click OK.
  6. 6. Close the Control Panel window and restart the computer.
  7. Once the computer restarts open QuickBooks and open a company file not currently showing on the No Company Open.
