Error 20001 General Process Failure, when using Shipping Manager

When you try to use Shipping Manager you receive this error message:

Error 20001 General Process Failure

Why this is happening

This error may be caused by a damaged Shipping Manager folder.

How to fix it

Solution: Reenter UPS account information

Note: Please have your account number and email address ready before you begin. You will be deleting all the saved information from the Shipping Manager and starting over. You may want to copy any information and save to Excel.

  1. Close the Shipping Manager window, and then close QuickBooks.
  2. Right-click the Windows Start button and select Explore.
  3. Browse to the Shipping Manager folder ("" is the Windows login of the user receiving the error message):
    • C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Intuit\Shipping Manager\Shipping Manager v4.
Note: You can instead search your hard drive for the Shipping Manager folder. Be sure you are including hidden files and folders in the search.
  4. Right-click the folder name and choose Rename.
  5. Append the word OLD to the end of the folder name and press the Enter key.
  6. Open QuickBooks.
  7. Choose File > Shipping > UPS Shipping Options > Settings.
  8. Follow the Setup Wizard to re-create your UPS account information in QuickBooks Desktop.
