After the initial server install of QuickBooks Desktop and you switch to Multi-User mode, the following error appears:
QuickBooks is trying to access the company file but the Database Server Manager is not responding.
You will also see the following message when attempting to start the QuickBooksDB(XX)* from the Services window:
The QuickBooksDBXX service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some service stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs.
If hosting has not been turned on at the Host computer (the computer where the company files are located aka the Server) turn hosting on and then switch to Multi-User mode.
This step only applies if you have installed the full program on your server computer, not just the database manager.
