Qbwin.log: Link error or Verify links data error

The Qbwin.log file displays one of the following messages :

  • Error: 000001(HEX) dep-pmt
  • Warning: Verify Transaction: Deposit from U/F has no dep-pmt links. Master = XXXX, Target = XXXX

These messages occur if a link between a payment and a deposit is damaged.

How to fix it

Important: Ensure to create a backup copy of your QuickBooks file before you follow the steps shown below.

  1. Use standard data damage troubleshooting.
  2. Identify the transactions in the damaged link:
    • Look for transaction-specific information in the error message, i.e., record number, name, date, amounts.
    • Delete and reenter any transactions that match the error message.
    • Be aware that if you delete and reenter a reconciled transaction, you must rereconcile the transaction.
  3. Special case: Payments or Sales Receipts that you have deposited and reconciled but still show as waiting to be deposited :
    • Open the damaged deposit from a report or the account register.
    • Click the Payments button.
    • Select the payments that are already included in the deposit.
    • Click OK.
    • The payment lines will be duplicated on the deposit. Delete the original payment lines, ensure that the deposit amount matches the original deposit.
    • Click OK.
    • This should resolve the deposit damage. You may need to rereconcile the Deposit.
  4. If you still cannot identify the transactions, use these tools to find data damage.
  5. If you still cannot identify the transactions, then you can:
    •  Restore an undamaged backup and reenter lost data.
    • Contact Technical Support to send in your data file for data recovery.
