Cannot find the viewChanges.html Opening Accountant Changes

In some cases, upon opening the Accountant Changes (QBY) prior to importing to QuickBooks, the following error is displayed:

"Cannot find the file " C:\Documents and Settings\Adminsitratior\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files \veiwChanges.html"(or one of its components) Make sure the path and the filename are correct and that all required libraries are available."

A File Download window will appear behind the message with no Transfer rate or Estimated time left The unknown file will appear to download indefinitely.

How to fix it

Please contact QuickBooks Technical support if you experience this issue. QuickBooks is aware of the issue and is working to resolve it.

The following workaround has been created to Import your Accountant Changes successfully.

If you do not have QuickBooks Premier Accountant Edition you will need the assistance of your accountant.

  1. Create a new company.
    • From the File menu choose New Company.
    • In the EasyStep Interview window select the Skip Interview button.
    • Follow the steps, selecting the defaults and clicking the Next button and Finish.
  2. When the new company opens, from the File menu select Accountant's Copy, Send to Accountant or Save File..
  3. Choose Send to Accountant to send the file as you would normally send an accountants copy to your accountant from your regular file.
  4. Ask your accountant an account in the Chart of Accounts (for example add a number to the end of an account name).
  5. Ask the Accountant to email the file back to you.
  6. Import the file back into the new company file.
    • Open the new company file created in Step 1.
    • From the File menu select Accountants Copy and Import Accountant Changes.
    • The Import Accountant Changes window will open.
    • Locate and open the Accountant Changes (QBY) file sent you by your accountant. It should import successfully.
  7. Import the Accountant Changes (QBY) file that originally gave you the error.
    • Open your company file that originally gave you the error.
    • From the File menu select Accountants Copy and Import Accountant Changes.
    • The Import Accountant Changes window will open.
    • Locate and open the Accountant Changes (QBY) file originally sent you by your accountant. It should import successfully.

If you have QuickBooks Premier Accountant Edition you can complete the workaround yourself.

  1. Create a New Company file, skipping the Interview as noted in the above Step 1.
  2. When the new company opens, from the File menu, select Accountant's Copy, Client Activities, Save File..
  3. Save the file (QBX) to your Desktop or to a location where it is easily accessible.
    • Convert the QBX to a QBA.
    • Select the File menu, Accountant's Copy and Open and Convert Accountants Copy Transfer File...
    • Browse to the (QBX) file created in Step 3.
  4. The new QBA will open. It is not necessary to make any changes.
  5. Export the changes (QBY) to your Desktop or an accessible location.
    • Choose the File menu, Accountants Copy and View Export Changes for Client.
    • In the View/Export Changes for Client click the Create Change File for Client button.
    • Save QBY file to the Desktop or an accessible location.
  6. Import the QBY file into the new company file created in Step 1. It should import successfully.
    • Open the new company file created in Step 1.
    • From the File menu select Accountants Copy and Import Accountant Changes.
    • The Import Accountant Changes window will open.
    • Locate and open the Accountant Changes (QBY) file you created in Step 6. It should import successfully.
  7. Open your original company file, that gave you the error originally.
  8. Import the Accountant Changes file you were originally trying to import from the File menu, Accountant's Copy, Import Accountants Changes.
