Profit and Loss by Class has a blank Unclassified column

On a Profit & Loss by Class report, the Unclassified column displays even though the column is blank, i.e., there are no amounts in the column.

Why this is happening

The Unclassified column shows when transactions exist but do not contain a class. If the total amount of these transactions is zero, the Unclassified column:

  • Displays zeroes.
  • Or will be blank if the Fonts & Numbers preference is set to show zero amounts as blank.
How to fix it

Set the report to display non-zero columns

  1. From within the report screen, click the Modify Report or Customize Report button.
  2. On the Display tab, click the Advanced button.
Note: If you are using QuickBooks for Mac, from within the report screen, click Options >Advanced.
  3. Under Display Columns, select Non-zero then click OK.
  4. Click OK to update the report
