The manual update (qbwebpatch.exe) does not run when clicked on

When trying to update QuickBooks Desktop using the manual update that was downloaded from  http://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/Support/ProductUpdates.aspx? the qbwebpatch.exe file does not run when clicked on.

How to fix it
Note: This is a workaround for  computer and severs  that is trying to install the update has no access to the internet but is networked together with other computers that have internet access and QuickBooks Desktop installd.
Turn on Shared Downloads
  1. On each computer that has QuickBooks installed do the following:
    1. Open QuickBooks.
    2. Select Help from the menu at the top of the screen.
    3. Select Update QuickBooks.
    4. Click on the Option tab.
    5. Select Yes on Shared Downloads.
    6. Note the location the update gets downloaded to. All of the programs should be looking at the same directory.
  2. On one of the computers that has internet access do the following:
    1. Select Help from the menu at the top of the screen.
    2. Select Update Quickbooks.
    3. Click the Get Updates button.
    4. Click on Get Updates.
      • The updates will be downloaded to a shared directory where all of the other computers can access.
  3. On the computer that was having issues installing go through the steps to Update QuickBooks.
  4. When the window pops up that prompts you to restart QuickBooks click OK.
  5. Restart QuickBooks.
  6. Select Install Update when prompted.
  7. When the update has completed QuickBooks Desktop will be on the latest release.
