Print or Previewing a transaction displays (prints) multiple copies of the transaction

When trying to print or print preview a new or existing transaction, multiple copies are being printed or displayed in the window for the one particular transaction.

The following instructions apply to these types of forms:

  • Invoice
  • Credit Memo
  • Estimate
  • Sales Receipt
  • Sales Order
  • Statement
  • Purchase Order
  • Work Order

The template that is being used in damaged.

Solution Description

Important: Ensure that your QuickBooks is up to date before you follow the steps shown below.


Note: Create a new template from scratch. Do not duplicate the template that is damaged.
Create a new template.
  1. From the Lists menu, select Templates.
  2. Click the Templates button at the bottom, click New.
  3. Select the type of template you want to create and click OK.
  4. Click Manage Templates button, enter a name for the template in the Template Name field and click OK.
  5. To make changes to fonts, logos, and company information use the Basic Customization window.
  6. To make changes to the header, footer, or to choose which columns and fields display on the screen and which display when printed, click the Additional Customization button.
  7. If you want to change the position of fields or other elements on the form, click the Layout Designer button.
  8. To see all the customization options for a form, be sure to create a new custom template. If you are customizing an existing standard template, only some options will be available.
  9. Click OK to save your changes.
  10. To use the template, select it from the Templates list.
When the new template is created, mark the old one inactive. You are unable to delete the damage template because it is used in previous transactions.
  1. From the Lists menu, select Templates.
  2. Right-click on the Template that is bad, select Make Template Inactive.
  3. Open the transaction that you were working with and select the new Template from the drop-down arrow. Ensure the preview displays the appropriate page before printing.
