Error Message: login denied, the company file is not enabled for this service

When you try to email an invoice, you receive the error message:

This company file is not enabled for this service, or you do not have access to this service. Please ask your QuickBooks administrator to resolve this.

Why this is happening
There are a couple of reasons this could be occurring:
  • The admin needs to login for the first time when sending the email through QuickBooks.
  • Damaged QuickBooks User login.

How to fix it
Intuit recommends more than one solution for this problem. The first solution may solve your problem, or you may need to try all of them to resolve the issue. For best results, perform the solutions in the order shown.

Solution 1:  Admin login
  1. Have the QuickBooks Admin log in and send the first email.
  2. They will get a screen asking for the company email address (this likely will be pre-filled based on the email address information entered in the company information).
  3. The next window will offer a trial of the Deluxe Service.  Options are to:
    • Click no thanks which will activate just the basic free service.
    • Accept the free trial which will require entry of credit card information.
    • After that choice of service has been made, the email will be sent.

Solution 2:  Check for damaged user
  1. From the Company menu, select Setup Users and Passwords > Setup up users.
  2. Click on the Add User option and follow the onscreen steps.
  3. Log out and back in as the New User to verify the email service works.
  4. If the new user can send an email:
    1. From the Company menu, select Setup Users and Passwords > Setup up users.
    2. Click on the damaged User.
    3. Click on Delete User option.
