Error -6085, 0: when restoring a backup after entering an incorrect password

When restoring a backup that includes a password, you may see an error after entering an incorrect password and canceling out of the QuickBooks Desktop login screen:

(-6085, 0)

How to fix it

Note: This issue was resolved in the latest release version of QuickBooks Desktop. Ensure that your QuickBooks Desktop is up to date before you follow the steps below.


Solution 1: Repair your QuickBooks Desktop installation

By repairing your QuickBooks Desktop, you are replacing all damaged QuickBooks components. If you are still getting the same error after repairing your QuickBooks Desktop, please proceed to Solution 2.

Solution 2: Update your QuickBooks Desktop

By performing a clean installation of QuickBooks Desktop, your are installing the QuickBooks program on a brand new folder in the same folder location.
