Cannot create the QBDataServiceUserXX on a domain

On occasion, the user QBDataServiceUserXX cannot be found when setting the security permissions for the shared network folder on the data server. By default, QBDataServiceUserXX should be created when the Database Server Manager installation is performed; however, on occasions that does not occur. The following steps outline a method that will manually create the user.

Alternatively, this solution also works for Error:  QBDataServiceUserXX is not found.

How to fix it
Notes:
  • If you are unsure or if you are uncomfortable performing the following steps on your own, seek help from a computer expert.
  • Ensure that "XX" is replaced by the appropriate number related to the year of QuickBooks Desktop. For example, QB2014 would be 24, QB2015 would be 25, QB 2016 would be 26 and QB 2017 would be 27
  1. Have the IT technician create a new active directory user called QBDataServiceUserXX and copy the password that is entered when the user is created.
  2. Click the Windows Start button on server and then select Run.
  3. Enter services.msc in the Open: field.
  4. Scroll down and locate the QuickBooksDBXX service, and then double-click the open the QuickBooksDBXX Properties dialog box.
  5. Select the Log On tab.
  6. Paste the password that was copied in Step 1 into the Password and Confirm Password fields.
  7. Click the OK button to close the properties dialog box.
  8. Browse to the location of the shared network that contains the QuickBooks files on the server.
  9. Right-click the folder and select Sharing and Security.
  10. Select the Security tab and then click the Add button.
  11. Enter QBDataServiceUserXX in the box labeled "Enter the object names to select" and then click the Check Names button.
  12. Click OK to close the "Select Users, Computers, or Groups" dialog box.
  13. Highlight the newly-added QBDataServiceUserXX and click the Full Control box and click OK to close the Documents and Setting Properties dialog box.
