Cannot find file QuickBooks Contact Sync.msi when trying to run synchronization

You install QuickBooks/Outlook synchronization tool (including updates) and attempt synchronization, and then get either "Cannot find file QuickBooks Contact Sync.msi"  or "Cannot find file Contact Sync.msi" errors, the synchronization tool is not performing normally.    

How to fix it

QuickBooks Contact Sync works with the following Windows Operating System:

  • Windows 10
  • Windows 7
  • Windows Vista
  • WIndows Server 2008

To resolve the error follow the steps below:

  1. Re-download the QuickBooks Contact Synchronization tool and save it to your desktop.
  2. Uninstall the QuickBooks Contact Sync.
    1. On your keyboard, press Windows logo+R. The Run dialog box opens.
    2. Enter appwiz.cpl then click OK. The Programs and Features window opens.
    3. Locate and uninstall the QuickBooks Contact Sync.
  3. Once removed, go to C:\ProgramData\Intuit/ContactSync folder and rename the folder to ContactSyncOld.
    1. Right-click the folder and then select Rename.
  4. Reboot the computer and run the Setup.exe file from the desktop, and follow the instructions for installation.
