The Password Reset tool asks for a token number

When running the Password Removal tool to reset the Admin password of your QuickBooks Company file you are prompted for a token number.

Why this is happening

This tool requires a "token number" to reset passwords. The token number ensures that company file passwords are reset only by the authorized administrator.

How to fix it

You should receive an email that contains the token.

If you don't receive the token, Intuit recommends 2 solutions for this problem. The first solution may solve your problem, or you may need to try both to resolve the issue. For best results, perform the solutions in the order shown.

Solution 1: Download and run the Automated Password Rest tool
Estimated time: 10 minutes

  1. Download the Automated Password Reset tool.
  2. Follow the onscreen instructions to run the tool.

If Automated Password Reset tool fails to reset the password, try solution 2.

Solution 2: Contact Intuit Technical Support
Estimated time: 20 minutes
