Intuit Data Protect Client uses in excess of 100MB of memory during backup

When a scheduled backup or manual backup is running, you may notice the Intuit Data Protect Client is using in excess of 100MB of memory. This can cause performance issues on the affected system.

You could have too much data selected for the backup set or it could happen because Intuit Sync Manager is running at the time as the backup.

How to fix it

Solution 1: Decrease the size of the backup set

  1. Right-click the Intuit Data Protect Icon in the System Tray and choose Open Intuit Data Protect.
  2. Click the Set up Backup button, and clear (deselect) some of the previously selected items.

Solution 2: Close Intuit Sync Manager while the backup is running

If you are using Intuit Sync Manager to sync your company data file information with an online application, close Intuit Sync Manager while the backup is running. To exit Intuit Sync Manager, right-click the System Tray icon and choose Exit Sync Manager
