Error: "There are no more files" when installing QuickBooks Desktop

When installing QuickBooks Desktop, the following message appears and then installation stops:

"The installer encountered an error when running E:\thirdparty\dotnet35\dotnetfx35setup.exe /q /norestart
System message - There are no more files"

Note: Another file besides dotnetfx35setup.exe may be mentioned in the error message.

Why this is happening

The Microsoft .NET installer requires access to Windows Update. If it is disabled, then this error can occur.

This error can also be caused by an issue with the CD drive or the CD media.

How to fix it

Intuit recommends three solutions for this problem. The first solution may solve your problem, or you may need to try all to resolve the issue. For best results, perform the solutions in the order presented here.
