Error: QuickBooks has stopped working, when toggling to a different edition

When toggling to a different edition in QuickBooks Accountant, QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions or QuickBooks Premier,  one of the following error messages occurs:

  • An error occurred when attempting to reconfigure your new edition of QuickBooks. You must temporarily return to your previous version by reinstalling it from your original CD.
  • The industry-specific version cannot be selected.
  • QuickBooks has stopped working.

How to fix it

Intuit recommends several solutions to this problem. The first solution may solve your problem, or you you may need to try all of them to resolve the issue. For best results, perform the solutions in the order shown.

IMPORTANT: Ensure your QuickBooks is updated to the latest release before you follow the steps shown below.
