When you try to restore a QuickBooks Desktop backup , you see this error:
(-6000,-816): QuickBooks was unable to open the company file because the file is in use. Another person may be in the process of opening the company file.
You might see this error if:
Intuit recommends more than one solution for this problem. The first solution may solve your problem, or you may need to try all of them to resolve the issue. For best results, perform the solutions in the order shown.
If the error is happening on a standalone machine and the files are not accessed over a network connection, restart the computer. Restarting the computer may not be an option if the computer that hosts the company file is a domain server or is inaccessible.
