Error -6108, -105: The QuickBooks company file cannot be opened.

The following error occurs when attempting to open the QuickBooks company file:

The QuickBooks Company file cannot be opened. Verify the users have Windows permissions to the folder in which the company file is located. Shared folder permissions determine who can access files and folders on a computer.

For more information refer to the help for Microsoft Windows. If the problem persists, contact Intuit Technical Support and provide them with the following error codes: (-6108, -105).
Why this is happening

This error can be caused by:

  • The latest release of your version of QuickBooks Desktop is not installed.
  • The Database Manager Service (QBDMgrN.exe) process has stopped or been interrupted.
  • More than one computer has hosting turned on.
How to fix it

Errors that occur while setting up or working in multi-user mode can be time-consuming to diagnose and correct.
