The following error appears:
This message can occur in a number of different situations:
The .ND (Network Device) file gets disassociated or disconnected from the .QBW and .TLG files.
You are running NOD32 Antivirus Software with Internet Monitor (IMON) enabled on the computer that contains the QuickBooks Desktop data file.
Note: Any other antivirus with Internet monitoring could cause a similar error message in QuickBooks Desktop because it is acting as a firewall.
Some Registry cleaning programs, such as Fix It Utilities, can also cause this error.
You have a standalone PC installation of QuickBooks Desktop on a computer running Norton Protection Center.
Intuit recommends more than one solution for this problem. The first solution may solve your problem, or you may need to try all of them to resolve the issue. For best results, perform the solutions in the order shown.
Solution 1: For a standalone PC install of QuickBooks Desktop
Solution 2: Rename the .nd file associated with the company data file:
Solution 3: If you are running NOD32 Antivirus Software with Internet Monitor (IMON)
Solution 4: Run reboot.bat
If issue continues, or you do not have IMON software installed, run reboot.bat.
Solution 5: Perform a clean installation of QuickBooks Desktop.
