Windows users with limited administrative privileges may encounter general errors when using early revisions of the Intuit Sync Manager. This applies to Windows XP users with "limited" privileges and Vista users with "standard" privileges.
With this problem the user can typically sign up a company file, but the initial upload returns a general "Error in sync" message. On rare occasions, this same sync problem might happen to users with full privileges who have successfully synced before.
Windows XP users with "limited" admin privileges and Windows Vista users with "standard user" privileges don't have access rights to Windows performance counters, causing the syncs to fail.
This can occasionally also happen to Sync Manager users with full admin privileges if Windows performance counters become corrupted by some other process.
Make sure Intuit Sync Manager is running version 188.8.131.5283 or later. This is the January 2009 release.
For this or any other sync issues, users should make sure QuickBooks automatic updates are enabled to insure they always have the latest fixes.
