When installing or uninstalling QuickBooks Desktop, one of the following errors occur:
Error 1500: Another installation is in progress. You must complete that installation before continuing this one.
Error 1500: Another application of QuickBooks is running.
This may be caused by a pending operation (requires system restart) or because a second instance of the install file (msiexec.exe) is running.
Intuit recommends more than one solution to fix this issue. The first step may fix this issue. For best result, please follow the steps in order shown below.
By restarting your computer, this will bring the system up from the scratch and swipes away the current state of the software. If the issue persist, please proceed to solution 2.
If the error persists, please proceed to solution 3.
By creating a new Windows user, you are checking if the issue lies within the current Windows user. If the issue persist, please proceed to solution 4.
Download, install and run the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool to check and fix Microsoft related components.
