Warning - The user name Admin is not a recognized user

You receive a message when attempting to log in the company file as the Admin user:

"Warning - The user name Admin is not a recognized user. Please check the spelling or ask your QuickBooks Administrator to set you up as a new user and try again."
 

Why this is happening
  • There is damage to the user name list.
  • You might be upgrading from a previous version where the Admin user name was not recognized and became damaged in the conversion process.
How to fix it

Restore a backup of the company file and upgrade again or send the file to Intuit Data Services team.

Upgrading from a previous version

  1. Edit the name of the admin user in the older version to "Admin".
  2. Begin the process to convert the file.

Unable to log in the company file

  1. Restore a backup of the company file.
  2. If you do not have a recent backup available to restore, you will need to send your company file to Intuit Data Services.

Note: If your other users are able to work in the company file, you may continue to do so until the Data Services team contacts you. Ensure there is a backup of the company file everyday you enter transactions.
