Why this is happening

There are several possible causes of this issue, including a damaged or corrupted Universal Printer Driver (Unidriver) or a damaged QBPrint.qbp file.

How to fix it

Intuit recommends three solutions for this problem. The first solution may solve your problem, or you may need to try all three to resolve the issue. For best results, perform the solutions in the order presented here.

Solution 1: Delete the QBPrint.qbp file

Solution 2: Toggle print options for your printer driver

  1. Open the Printers window:
Windows 10: From the taskbar, click the Search box. In the Search field, enter Devices and Printers
Windows 8: Click the Windows Start icon, in the Search Field, enter "printers". Press Enter.
Windows 7/Windows Vista: Click the Windows button and, in the Start Search field, enter “printers” and press Enter.
  2. Right-click your default printer and choose Properties/Printer Properties.
  3. Click the Advanced tab.
  4. Select the option to Print directly to printer.
  5. Click OK to save the settings.
  6. Reopen QuickBooks and print the transaction that was having problems.
  7. If the transaction prints correctly, open the Printer Properties window again (see step 1), click the Advanced tab, and select the option to Spool print documents so program finishes printing faster. Click OK.
  8. Open QuickBooks and print the transaction that was having problems.

Solution 3: Remove all printers to delete the Unidriver

  1. Display your list of printers (see step 1 of Solution 2 above).
  2. For each printer, right-click the printer icon and Remove Device/Delete.
  3. When all printers have been removed, the Unidriver is automatically deleted.
  4. Reinstall all the printers, open QuickBooks, and print the transaction again.

Although many modern printers will install automatically when plugged in to the computer, you may need to reinstall the printer using the installation file provided by the printer manufacturer. These files are usually found on a CD or can be downloaded from the manufacturer’s web site. Contact the printer manufacturer for more information.
