Error 250002: Invalid user ID/password, after clicking the Ship button in QuickBooks

When you click the Ship button in QuickBooks Desktop to ship an item, you see this error message:

Error 250002: invalid user ID/password

Why this is happening

The QuickBooks Shipping Manager folder is damaged.

How to fix it

Solution: Rename and recreate the Shipping Manager folder.

Note: You will need to reenter your UPS and/or FedEX account information. Please have this information ready before you begin.

  1. Close the Shipping Manager window, and then close QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Right-click the Windows Start button and select Explore.
  3. Browse to the Shipping Manager folder, where [WindowsUserName] is the Windows login name of the user receiving the error messag.
    • QuickBooks Desktop 2014 and later:
      • Windows 10/8/7 and Vista: C:\Users\[WindowsUserName]\AppData\Roaming\Intuit\ShippingManager\Shipping Manager v4
  4. Right-click the folder name and select Delete. Click Yes to confirm that you want to delete the folder.
  5. Open QuickBooks.
  6. From the File menu choose Shipping > UPS Shipping Options > Settings (and/or Shipping > FedEX Shipping Options > Settings).
  7. Follow the Setup wizard to recreate your UPS and/or FedEX account information in QuickBooks Desktop.

After you set up the account, you will be able to process your shipment.
