QuickBooks Online Backup is experiencing problems with ActiveX controls when trying to use Web Restore, such as displaying a large red X instead of the directory tree.
The default settings of the browser are preventing ActiveX controls from loading automatically.
To resolve this issue you must set up QuickBooks Online Backup websites as Trusted Sites to allow access:
If Web Restore has been loaded previously and is now experiencing issues, remove the ActiveX control. Online Backup will prompt to reload the control the next time you log in to use the Web Restore function.
Remove the Active X control used to restore Online Backup files:
For Internet Explorer 6.0
Note: Internet Explorer 6.0 is not compatible with QuickBooks 2013
For Internet Explorer 7.0
After completing the steps above, try using Web Restore again to restore the selected files.
