Message: Connection failed, when attempting to start QuickBooks Point of Sale for Desktop

When attempting to open QuickBooks Point of Sale for Desktop,  you see the following message:

Connection failed
Why this is happening
  • A program update is being installed in another workstation.
  • Previously installed  a Point of Sale trial version.
  • Damaged entitlement client folder for QuickBooks Point of Sale for Desktop.
  • A firewall or other network security issue prevents QuickBooks Point of Sale for Desktop from opening.
How to fix it

Intuit recommends more than one solution for this problem. The first solution may solve your problem, or you may need to try all of them to resolve the issue. For best results, perform the solutions in the order shown.

IMPORTANT:
  1. Complete any program updates from all workstations.
  2. Reboot your computer. This process starts the Operating System with a full block of processes which helps reset the program to its initial state and perform the way you wanted it to.
  3. Log in as the Windows Administrator. This allows you to make configuration changes in Windows and control your working environment.
