Important: Ensure that your QuickBooks Desktop is up to date before you perform the steps shown below.
Choose the solution below that best fits your concern:
Rename your QuickBooks Desktop file and make sure it will not exceed to 65 characters.
Save the backup to a local drive (such as the C:\ drive), and then copy the backup to the external drive.
Create a Portable Company File and restore it to a new company file name.
Rename .TLG file.
Shorten the path to the company file.
Rename the company file and removed the .ADR extension
