How to fix it

You may be able to resolve this error by updating to the latest release. Improvements related to this error have been made to accomodate larger reports.

QuickBooks 2014/Enterprise Solutions 14.0 and later:

QuickBooks 2014 and Enterprise Solutions 14.0 and newer have the ability to use a larger amount of available memory on computers running a 64 bit version of Windows with 64 bit processors.

To enable this:

  1. Close QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Go to your QuickBooks Desktop program folder. By default, this is C:\Program Files(x86)\Intuit\QuickBooks 20xx or C:\Program Files(x86)\Intuit\Enterprise Solutions xx.0 (xx = your version / year)
  3. Find the files QBW32_4GB and QBW32.exe.
  4. Rename the QBW32.exe file to QBW32_old.
  5. Rename the QBW32_4GB file to QBW32.exe.
  6. Open QuickBooks Desktop and try running the report that was causing problems.

If you continue to see this error, the following workarounds may help:

If you continue to receive the message, you may want to turn on the Prompt me to modify report options before opening a report  in the Reports & Graphs preferences.

  1. Go to Edit and select Preferences.
  2. Select Reports & Graphs and click My Preferences tab.
  3. Select the  Prompt me to modify report options before opening a report checkbox.
  4. Click OK to save preferences.

The next time you run a report, you will have a Modify Report:  window open.  Filter the report for what you want and click OK.
