An update of your company data file, from an older version to a newer version, fails. Possible error messages include, but are not limited to the following:
Most data conversion issues are caused by pre-existing damage in the data file. When QuickBooks Desktop tries to convert this damaged data, the program encounters problems and the file cannot be converted.
If your company file (or backup) is located on a computer that does not have the new version of QuickBooks Desktop installed, you must copy the file to a computer where the new version is installed. Do not update a company file across a network connection as it may damage your file.
If you restore a portable company file (.qbm) or a backup (.qbb) to a newer version of QuickBooks Desktop, you may see this error:
