Billing date of the Month (BDOM)

What is BDOM?

BDOM is a Billing Date of Month.  It is a number between 1 and 31 that matches the date of the month that your Billing Profile is created.  A billing profile links a particular user to a particular credit card.

Detailed Information

 How does it impact billing?

Any subscription purchase made using a particular billing profile, will bill on the same BDOM each month.

Examples:

If BDOM is 5 and a subscription is purchased on the 5th, billing will occur monthly/annually on the 5th.

If BDOM is 5 and a monthly subscription is purchased on the 18th, your first billing will be billed a prorated amount  for the 18th to the 5th of the following month and then you will billed the full amount monthly on the 5th.

If BDOM is 5 and an annual subscription is purchased on the 18th, you will be billed for the annual amount less a prorated amount for 13 days (the 5th through the 18th) and then you will be billed for the full amount on the 5th of that month, the following year.

If BDOM is 5 and and monthly subscription is purchased on the 1st, your first billing will be a prorated amount for the 1st to the 5th and then you will be billed the full amount on the 5th.

Will my monthly billing change?

After the first month, which is typically pro-rated, monthly amounts do not change regardless of the # of days in the month.

How or why do I benefit from this change?

BDOM allows us to provide consolidated billing.  That allows you to purchase at different times but have the system synch up those bills (with automatic prorating) so that you get one bill per month.

Rather than having to track multiple billings occurring at different times during the month, you will only have a single transaction to review.  This makes it easier to routinely review what you are being billed for.
