QuickBooks and DCAA compliance

Problem Description

QuickBooks and DCAA compliance

Solution Description

The Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), under the authority, direction, and control of the United States under the Secretary of Defense, performs all contract audits for the United States Department of Defense (DOD). DCAA also provides contract audit services to some other government agencies. Today, the DCAA consists of approximately 4,000 people located at more than 300 field audit offices throughout the world. More information available at www.dcaa.mil.

The DCAA does not specifically approve or disapprove an accounting system, but the way an accounting system is used and applied.

QuickBooks, together with integrated time capture and reporting tools, can be a very effective DCAA compliant solution. The more technical aspects of indirect rates determinations, incurred cost reporting, DCAA pre-award audits, policies and procedures, and contract management disciplines, require additional tools and expertise.

Intuit does not offer any products to make QuickBooks DCAA compliant. However, there are some third party tools and resources available on the internet that can be researched and explored to determine best appropriate tool to make QuickBooks DCAA compliant.
