License for QuickBooks Desktop installed on a server

What are the licensing requirements for the QuickBooks Database Server Manager and/or the full QuickBooks program installed on a server?

Always consult our license agreement for complete details, but basically, the following rule applies:
  • If a person actually uses QuickBooks Desktop at the server, then a license is required.
  • If no one uses QuickBooks Desktop at the server, and it is only installed there so that other workstations can access company files, then no license is required.
