License for QuickBooks Desktop installed on a server
What are the licensing requirements for the QuickBooks Database Server Manager and/or the full QuickBooks program installed on a server?

for complete details, but basically, the following rule applies:
If a person actually uses QuickBooks Desktop at the server, then a license is required.
If no one uses QuickBooks Desktop at the server, and it is only installed there so that other workstations can access company files, then no license is required.
