If your QuickBooks program is installed on a computer running Windows Vista, you may find that it takes a long time for the contents of an open window to appear. This issue is caused by the way the Vista operating system functions.
When Vista tries to update the open window history (called the Breadcrumb Bar) on a system that is connected to a network using active directory, it prefers to show the user's display name rather than the user's login name. Vista queries active directory for the display name. If the network is slow or if the computer is disconnected from the network, the query fails. When that happens, Vista then queries the local machine for the login name. The process of querying active directory, not getting a response, and then querying the local machine causes the delay.
At this time, there is nothing that can be done to resolve this issue.
