Accept credit cards using a GoPayment swiper and QuickBooks Online on your iPhone

Great news! iPhone users can now accept credit card payments using a GoPayment credit card swiper with QuickBooks Online. This works with Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover cards. You can either swipe a customer's credit card through the GoPayment card reader or key-enter the customer's credit card information on the new screens in QuickBooks Online for iPhone. 

Detailed Instructions

Open up and log into the QuickBooks Online Mobile App (it should look like this in your phone):   

1. From the main page, select the (+) Add button at the bottom of the screen.

2. In the menu that pops up, select Payment.

     

3. A Receive Payment (Invoice Payment) screen will show, fill out all the necessary information and select Credit Card as the payment type. Select Next.

3. Insert the GoPayment card swiper and swipe the card. (NOTE: If this is the first time that you are using the swiper, the card reader will configure to your phone. If it asks you to allow access to certain features like the Microphone or Location Services, select 'Yes" on those pop-ups.)

4. Once the card is correctly swiped, it will prompt for your customer to sign. Once they sign, they will have to hit "Charge" to confirm this signature and the payment will finish processing.

5. When the payment has processed, you will see a confirmation screen of the payment. You can then view the transaction in your Merchant Service Center.

Q:  What is launching inside QuickBooks Online for the iPhone?
A:  The ability to swipe or key-enter GoPayment credit card payments.
 
Q:  What makes it better than just using GoPayment?
A:  You can accept payments and create sales receipts. The transaction will instantly show up on your QuickBooks Online Income with no additional reconciliation steps required. You can receive payment on an invoice. Just like with a Sales Receipt, the transaction will instantly show up on your QuickBooks Online Income with no additional reconciliation steps required.
 
Q:  Can I get all of GoPayment in QuickBooks Online for the iPhone now?
A:  No. Currently you can only swipe or key enter credit cards in QuickBooks Online for the iPhone. 
 
Q:  Is this GoPayment? Can I see the transactions that I processed in QuickBooks Online for the iPhone inside GoPayment?
A:  No. You will only be able to see transactions that you processed in GoPayment inside the GoPayment transaction history. To see QuickBooks Online for the iPhone transactions, you will have to look in your QuickBooks Online for the iPhone app.
 
Q:  What if I want to refund a transaction that I processed in QuickBooks Online for the iPhone?
A:  Just like with GoPayment, if you want to refund a QuickBooks Online transaction performed on your iPhone, you will need to go to merchantcenter.intuit.com to process it. 
 
Q: I heard that I can process mobile payments in QuickBooks Online for the iPhone, but I don’t see it. What should I do?
A: Do you have QuickBooks Merchant Services or a GoPayment account? If not, go to payments.intuit.com to sign up. Once you have a GoPayment account, you will be able to use both swipe and key-enter credit card processing inside QuickBooks Online for the iPhone.
