Setup dual monitors in QuickBooks Desktop

How to use QuickBooksDesktop  with dual monitors to show multiple windows on each screen, and maximize your workspace.

Detailed instructions

To set up QuickBooks for use on dual monitors:

  1. From the Edit menu, select Preferences.
  2. In the left pane of the preference screen, click Desktop View.
  3. Click the Display button in the Windows Settings section to open the Display Properties window.
  4. Identify your secondary monitor by clicking the display numbered as 2.
  5. In Multiple displays:  select Extend these displays.
  6. Click Apply then OK

To view a report on your secondary monitor:

  1. Start with QuickBooks open on monitor 1.
  2. Move your cursor to the outside border of the QuickBooks program window.
  3. When your cursor changes to a double-sided arrow, click and drag the program window to the end of monitor 2.
  4. You will now be able to drag your open windows in QuickBooks to the other monitor to maximize your workspace.
  • Note: Closing QuickBooks with reports open on monitor 2 will leave the reports open in future instances until you close them manually. If you have Quickbooks open on monitor 1 only and you notice that the program shows that windows are open but you cannot see them, extend the program window to monitor 2 as described above to view them.
