Perform a Clean Re-install for QuickBooks Point of Sale for Desktop

Steps to completely uninstall and then reinstall QuickBooks Point of Sale for Desktop to troubleshoot and resolve data file and program issues.

Detailed instructions

Ensure the following before uninstalling QuickBooks Point of Sale for Desktop:

  • You have your QuickBooks Point of Sale for Desktop download file or your installation CD and License and Product Numbers before uninstalling POS. (Please see Step by step instructions to download Point of Sale.) 
  • You can log in as Windows Administrator before performing the next steps.
  • Make sure the computers you will be working on are available to be restarted.
  • If you can open QuickBooks Point of Sale for Desktop, create a backup of the data file.

  2. Reinstall Point of Sale.
