A report of Customers, Vendors or Items with no activity

This report shows Customers, Vendors or Items that have had no activity.

At times, you need to know:

  • Customers to whom you are not selling.
  • Vendors from whom you are not buying.
  • Items that you are not selling.
Detailed instructions
Use the Sales and Purchases Summary Reports:

Customers to whom you have not sold:

  1. From the QuickBooks Reports menu, select Sales and then Sales by Customer Summary.
  2. Select Modify (Customize) Report.
  3. Set the Dates to your desired date range (this year, last year, etc.).
  4. Set Display Columns by to your desired time period (year, month, week).
  5. Select Advanced and then set Display Rows to All.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click Collapse at the top of the report.

Vendors from whom you have not purchased:

  1. From the QuickBooks Reports menu, select Purchasing and then Purchases by Vendor Summary.
  2. Select Modify (Customize) Report.
  3. Set the Dates to your desired date range (this year, last year, etc.).
  4. Set Display Columns by to your desired time period (year, month, week).
  5. Select Advanced and then set Display Rows to All.
  6. Click OK.

Items you have not sold:

  1. From the QuickBooks Reports menu, select Sales and then select Sales by Item Summary.
  2. Select Modify (Customize) Report.
  3. Set the Dates to your desired date range (this year, last year, etc.).
  4. Set Display Columns by to your desired time period (year, month, week).
  5. Select Advanced and then set Display Rows to All.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click Collapse at the top of the report.

Export to Microsoft Excel

  1. Click Export at the top of the report to export to Microsoft Excel.
  2. Click Advanced.
  3. Disable "auto outlining."
  4. Click the Export button.
  5. Use multilevel sorting and additional filtering to refine the report.

Example: Show the rows with no activity for three years:

  1. Delete the Totals column.
  2. Sort by the last year.
  3. Then sort by the next to last year.
  4. Then sort the second to last year.
  5. The rows with no activity for three years will be at the top of the spread sheet.
