Merge and synchronize user licenses with multiple copies of Point of Sale on a network

If you have multiple copies of QuickBooks Point of Sale for Desktop on a network,  you may need to merge or sync your licenses to connect with the server's company file.

Detailed instructions

To merge and synchronize user licenses with multiple copies of QuickBooks Point of Sale for Desktop on a network, follow these steps:

  1. Install QuickBooks Point of Sale for Desktop as a dedicated server on one computer using the first license number.
  2. Install QuickBooks Point of Sale for Desktop as a client on the second computer using the second license number.
    Note: Follow the same procedure for any additional client workstations using unique license numbers. QuickBooks Point of Sale for Desktop can be networked to allow up to one server installation and nineteen client installations.
  3. When QuickBooks Point of Sale for Desktop starts on the client workstation, it will compare the license number to the server license number through the network. Since they are different, you will be prompted to merge licenses.
  4. Select Merge Now.
  5. After it completes,, the new client workstation shares the same license as the server workstation and the original license number for each client deactivates.
  6. At the server workstation, choose Help > Manage My License > Synchronize License Data Online
    Note: In order for the server workstation to synchronize licensing information with Intuit servers, an internet connection is required.
  7. Follow the on-screen prompts to synchronize license data.
  8. Click OK.
