Perform the ODBC for QuickBooks Enterprise Optimizer as a Scheduled Task

To perform the ODBC for QuickBooks Enterprise Optimizer as a Scheduled Task, refer to the steps for using the Microsoft Scheduled Task Wizard.

Detailed Instructions

To optimize QuickBooks Desktop data using the Microsoft Scheduled Task Wizard:

  1. Click the Windows Start button and select Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Scheduled Tasks.
  2. Double-click Add Scheduled Task and click Next.
  3. Click the Browse button and locate the ODBC install directory for your version of QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions:
    (Example: C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 15.0\Components\QODBC.)
    1. Double-click Local Disk (C:) and double-click Program Files.
    2. Double-click Intuit and double-click QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions.
    3. Double-click Components and double-click QODBC.
  4. Click QODBCUPD.EXE and click Open.
  5. Enter Optimize QuickBooks Data in the Type a name for this task field.
  6. Click Daily and click Next.
  7. Enter a Start time and click Everyday. (Schedule this task at the end of your business day when QuickBooks is not being used.)
  8. Select a Start date and click Next.
  9. Enter the user name and password and click Next. (The person performing this task should have administrator rights.)
  10. Click Finish.

Note: It is preferable to have a system administrator create a user with log on as a service rights and to have a password set to never expire to perform this service. By doing this, the service will never stop due to an expired password or because it was set up with a user account that no longer exists in the system.
