Configuring Sygate firewall for Point of Sale (POS) functions

Internet security and personal firewall application settings can affect how Point of Sale accesses its company data file, licensing information, program updates, and the merchant account service. . Incorrect settings can result in errors.

Detailed Instructions

Print out a listing of Point of Sale ports, files and their locations so it is available as you configure your firewall.

To configure Sygate Personal Firewall Pro 5.0:

Note: If your version is different, your steps may vary.
  1. Click the Windows Start button and select Programs > Sygate > Sygate Personal Firewall.
  2. In the Sygate Personal Firewall Pro window, click Toolsat.
  3. Select the Tools menu and select Applications. . All applications that have attempted to access the Internet will be listed. . Beside each application will be a checkbox with one of three options: X for Block, ? for Ask, and a checkmark for Allow. . Select Allow for each appropriate file.
  4. Ensure that the applications listed for your version appear and are selected. . If they are not, you can select them.
