Configuring Trend Micro PC-cillin firewall for Point of Sale (POS) functions

Internet security and personal firewall application settings can affect how Point of Sale accesses its company data file, licensing information, program updates, and the merchant account service. . Incorrect settings can result in errors.

Print out a listing of Point of Sale ports, files and their locations so it is available as you configure your firewall.

To configure Trend Micro PC-cillin for Point of Sale functions:

1. Click the Windows Start button and select All Programs > Trend Micro PC-cillin.
2. In the left pane, select Network Security and select Personal Firewall.
3. Select the connection you use (for example, direct connection) and click the Add button.
4. On the Exceptions List tab, review the exceptions list.
5. If any files are not listed, add the exceptions:
   1. Click Add.
   2. Enter a description for the first needed program. . The description may be the same as the program name.
   3. For the Target, select Specified Application and click Browse.
   4. Navigate to the correct folder for this application.
   5. Select the file noted in the list and click Open.
   6. Both Outgoing and Incoming need to be allowed for the action.
6. Verify these additional settings:
   • Protocol needs to match that in the files and ports listing noted above.
   • IP Setting is All IP Addresses.
7. Click OK.
8. Repeat the necessary steps above to add the remaining listed applications requiring access through the firewall.
