Error: "We are unable to display the accountant's changes, please contact Intuit technical support for more help" when viewing or exporting changes in an Accountant's Copy working file (.qba)
What is happening

An error occurs when attempting to view or export changes for your client in an Accountant's Copy working file (.qba):

We are unable to display the accountant's changes, please contact Intuit technical support for more help.

Why is this happening

This error occurs if an account was reconciled that contains a special character in its name. The special character could appear in the account that was reconciled, or in the service charge or interest earned account listed in the Begin Reconciliation window. The characters that cause this issue are:

  • < (less than)
  • > (greater than)
  • & (ampersand)
  • ' (apostrophe)
  • " (quotation mark)

For example, Bob's Savings & Loan contains two special characters that would cause the error ( ' and &).

How to fix the problem

This issue has been resolved in the latest release for your version of QuickBooks. Please update your program to the most current release.

After updating QuickBooks, recreate the Accountant's Copy changes or send the data file to Intuit to be repaired.

Note: Simply editing the account name to remove the special characters will not resolve the error after it has occurred.

To resolve this issue:

  1. Update QuickBooks to the most current release.
  2. Select the best solution for your situation:
    • Delete the Accountant's Copy working file and reenter the changes
