To install, repair, or reinstall Microsoft .NET Framework, select the option for your version of QuickBooks and Microsoft Windows:
QuickBooks 2010 or Enterprise Solutions 10.0
QuickBooks 2008 and 2009 or Enterprise Solutions 8.0 and 9.0 installed on Windows XP
QuickBooks 2008 and 2009 or Enterprise Solutions 8.0 and 9.0 installed on Windows Vista
QuickBooks 2007 and earlier or Enterprise Solutions 7.0 and earlier
QuickBooks 2010 or Enterprise Solutions 10.0
- Close all open applications.
- See if .NET Framework is already installed:
- Windows Vista or Windows 7
- Click the Windows Logo button.

- Double-click Programs and Features.
- If Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 appears in the list, proceed to Step 3 to repair it.
- If Microsoft .NET Framework is not in the list, proceed to Step 5 to install it.
- Windows XP
- Click the Windows Start button and choose Control Panel (or Settings > Control Panel).
- Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
- If Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 appears in the list, proceed to Step 3 to repair it.
- If Microsoft .NET Framework is not in the list, proceed to Step 5 to install it.
- Repair .NET Framework:
- In the Add or Remove Programs or the Programs and Features window, select Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 and click:
- Windows Vista or Windows 7: Uninstall/Change
- Windows XP: Change/Remove
- Select Repair and click Next.
- Follow instructions to repair the application.
- If repair completes successfully, open QuickBooks.

- If the error still occurs, proceed with Step 4 to uninstall .NET Framework.
- If an error occurs during repair, proceed with Step 4 to uninstall .NET Framework.
- Uninstall .NET Framework
- Refer to Step 2 to open the list of installed programs.
- Refer to Step 3.a to open the .NET Framework installer program.
- Select Uninstall and click Next.
- Follow instructions to uninstall the application, and then proceed with Step 5 to reinstall it.
Note: If an error occurs while uninstalling .NET, download and run the .NET Framework cleanup tool in Aaron Stebner's WebLog on the Microsoft Developer Network.
- Install .NET Framework
- From a QuickBooks CD:
- Insert the QuickBooks CD and close the QuickBooks installation window if it opens.
- Right-click the Windows Logo button (in Vista) or Start button (in XP) and choose Explore.
- Browse to D:\ThirdParty\DotNET35, where D: is your CD drive letter.
- Double-click dotnetfx35setup.exe, and follow instructions to install the software.
- From Microsoft's web site:
- Open the Microsoft download web page for your version of Windows:
If you're not sure which version to download, refer to "How to determine whether your computer is running a 32-bit version or a 64-bit version of the Windows operating system."
- Read the information and follow instructions to download and install the program.
- Open QuickBooks and resume working.
QuickBooks 2008 and 2009 or Enterprise Solutions 8.0 and 9.0 installed on Windows XP
- Close all open applications.
- Click the Windows Start button and choose Control Panel (or Settings > Control Panel).
- Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
- Search the list of currently installed programs for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0:
- If the program appears in the list, repair it:
- Select Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0, and then click Change/Remove.
- Select Repair, and then click Next.
- When prompted, restart your computer.
- If the program does not appear in the list, install it:
- Insert the QuickBooks CD in your CD drive. netframework .net .net framework, defined why .net error, reinstall fix, . If the QuickBooks installation window opens, close it.
- Right-click the Windows Start button and select Explore.
- Browse to D:\ThirdParty\DotNET20, where D: is your CD drive letter.
- Double-click dotnetfx20.exe, and follow the prompts to install the software.
Note: If your QuickBooks CD is not available, you can download and install Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 from the Microsoft Web site.
QuickBooks 2008 and 2009 or Enterprise Solutions 8.0 and 9.0 installed on Windows Vista
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 used by these versions of QuickBooks is integrated with the Windows Vista operating system and cannot be repaired or installed independently.
Run the System File Checker (sfc) tool using the /scannow option. netframework .net .net framework, defined why .net error, reinstall fix, . - Restart your computer when prompted.
- If the program does not appear on the list, install it:
