System Requirements for QuickBooks 2007

Overview
Processor, RAM, Disc Space and Network:
QuickBooks Simple Start, Pro, and Premier:
  • At least 500 MHz Intel Pentium II or equivalent computer (1.8 GHz Pentium III recommended).
  • At least 256 MB of RAM for a single user (512 MB recommended).
  • At least 512 MB for a server (1 GB or more strongly recommended).
  • 1 GB of disk space (additional space required for data files).
QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions:
  • At least 1.2 GHz Intel Pentium III for a client (2 GHz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent recommended).
  • At least 512 MB for a client (as much as possible recommended).
  • At least 1 GB for a server (more bly recommended).
  • 1 GB of disk space (additional space required for data files).
  • Minimum network requirements:
    • 100 Megabits per second network card
    • 100 Megabits per second switch or router
    • 40 Megabits per second network bandwidth
Operating system:
  • Windows 2000 SP3 or later (SP4 or later strongly recommended), XP (SP2 or later strongly recommended), Windows Vista 32 bit versions (QuickBooks R3 or later strongly recommended) or Windows Vista 64 bit versions (QuickBooks R6 or later is required).

File Server:
  • Windows 2000 or later OS is strongly recommended, see above operating system information for Windows service pack recommendations.
  • Novell Netware server or Linux/Samba File servers can be used with advanced configuration.
Disc space for additional software:
  • 70 MB for Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 provided on QuickBooks CD and installed if necessary (Internet Explorer 7.0 supported when released).
  • 150 MB for Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Common Language Runtime, provided on the QuickBooks CD.
  • 9 MB for the QuickBooks Timer.
Hardware:
  • 2x CD-ROM drive.
  • Optimized for 1024x768 screen resolution, supports 800x600 using "Small fonts" setting in your Windows control panel display setting.
Application Integration and Compatibility:

QuickBooks is capable of integrating with hundreds of 3rd party applications (see http://www.marketplace.intuit.com for the most up-to-date list) in addition to the following standard integrations provided with QuickBooks, additional RAM will enhance the use of these features:
  • Preparing letters requires Microsoft Word 2000, 2002, or 2003.
  • Exporting reports requires Microsoft Excel 2000, 2002, or 2003.
  • Contact Synchronization with Microsoft Outlook requires Outlook 2000, 2002, or 2003.
  • Synchronization with Outlook requires QuickBooks Contact Sync for Outlook (which can be downloaded for free from http://www.quickbooks.com/contact_sync).
  • Compatible with QuickBooks Customer Manager V2.0 and QuickBooks Client Manager v2.0.
  • Compatible with QuickBooks Point of Sale v4.0 or later.
  • Business Planner functionality requires Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 or later.
  • Payroll and other online feature and services require internet access with at least a 56Kbps connection speed (DSL or Cable modem recommended).
Firewall and Antivirus Software Compatibility:

QuickBooks 2007 has been tested with the following Firewall and Anti-Virus software. . In some cases it may be necessary to adjust settings in these products to ensure the best possible performance with QuickBooks.
  • Microsoft Windows XP SP2 built-in firewall.
  • Symantec Norton AntiVirus, Internet Security Suite, etc.
  • McAfee Anti-Virus.
  • Trend Micro PC-Cillin.
  • Zone Labs ZoneAlarm.
