Installing QuickBooks on Microsoft Windows Vista

Overview

For the easiest and most effective transition to running QuickBooks on the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system, Intuit recommends using QuickBooks 2007 or later. . Although older versions may install successfully, only QuickBooks 2007 or later and Enterprise Solutions 7.0 or later are supported on Windows Vista.

Detailed Instructions

To install QuickBooks on Windows Vista, follow the steps and review the images below:

  1. Insert the QuickBooks installation CD in to the CD-ROM drive. . The following window appears:



     
  2. Click Run Setup.exe. . If User Account Control has not been disabled, the User Account Control window displays the following warning message.



     
  3. Click Allow.

    Note: The following message appears only if you are installing QuickBooks 2006 or earlier.




     
  4. If this message appears, click the Run program button to start the QuickBooks installation.

    Note: You might be prompted to supply a password with administrator rights. . This is a new feature of Windows Vista.
