Complete each of the following steps, testing after the completion of each one. When the error no longer recurs, further troubleshooting is not necessary:
- Update your program to the most current release at all workstations, starting with the server. The latest update for this version resolves this issue in most cases.
- Ensure you are logged into Windows as an Administrator and download the 176125 repair tool:
- Click Save when prompted and save the file to your Windows desktop.
- After it is saved to your desktop, double-click the file and follow the wizard. You must select your version of Point of Sale on the initial screen.
- From the client computer, ping the server computer over the network. (Link opens in a new window)
- Restart your computer and open Point of Sale.
- Configure any firewall applications (McAfee Security Center, Norton Internet Security Center, Big Fix (another AV/security program) to allow for Point of Sale processes.
Note: Please add exceptions in the firewall software for: - Point of Sale 5.0: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\Entitlement Client v2\Server\Intuit.Spc.Map.EntitlementClient.Server.Service.exe on the Point of Sale Server.
- Point of Sale 6.0: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v3\Server\Intuit.Spc.Map.EntitlementClient.Server.Service.exe on the Point of Sale Server.
- Point of Sale 7.0: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v5\Server\Intuit.Spc.Map.EntitlementClient.Server.Service.exe on the Point of Sale Server.
Even though the Point of Sale Server may be working, if the firewall on the server is blocking incoming messages from the client, you can have licensing problems on all the client computers. If this solution does not resolve the issue, review other free and fee-based support options available for Point of Sale.
