QuickBooks Point of Sale can be networked to allow upto ten workstations simultaneous access to the program within a store;one Server Workstation and up to nine Client Workstations. A separateuser license must be purchased for each workstation requiring simultaneousaccess.

Server Workstation
Typically the first workstation to which you installedPoint of Sale. Only the Server Workstation can:
Create andhold your point-of-sale company data
Exchange informationwith QuickBooks financial software
Import datavia the Data Import Tool
Set item andcustomer ranking preferences
Use the ProductListing Service in Google MarketingTools
If you are installing Point of Sale on only one workstation,it must be installed as a Server Workstation. Only one Server Workstationcan be installed on a network.
Important: The Server Workstation must be running forClient Workstations to have access to the Point of Sale data. (Point ofSale does not have to be open on the Server Workstation.)
Client Workstation
Any networked workstation that is not a Server Workstationis a Client. Client Workstations access the Point of Sale company dataacross the network.
